Shelby the Shetland Sheepdog - Sheltie
A true friend is someone who reaches for your hand
and touches your heart.

Shelby was a true friend. She lived a long and good life, better than some dogs, and some people for that matter.

The word of a Don Williams song expresses my feelings very well.

Coffee black cigarette start this day like all the rest
First thing every morning that I do is start missing you
Some broken hearts never mend some mem'ries never end
Some tears will never dry my love for you will never die

I have never heard her say a bad or judgmental comment about anybody else. Sure sometimes she acts tough, especially to the neighbors dogs, but she is all show. Being one of the most loving dogs I have ever met. Smart? Sure she is smart.

I have taken Shelby out in the field a few times too while hunting Indian relics. In fact the largest relic I found in the field just north of my house I found with her. Every time I turned and was facing the house she thought we were done and going back so she would trot on ahead towards the house a ways, just to turn around after a few paces to check if I was close in following. When she realized we were not going home, she would turn and walk slowly back to me, ready for another pass of the field. That went on for about two hours. She was ready to go home the entire time but never complained.

There will be a large empty void in me when she is gone. I will be doing a lot more things alone, just like I used to do before her and Pam came into my life. I do not look forward to that.

I created this web site because I miss her and she deserves to be remembered by those that knew her. Those that did not know her, can still find happiness in her.

Please sign her guestbook and tell us some tales of yours with your pets.
